Check Out Read-Along Books at SPL!

You can now check out kids' books with built-in audio. Vox books are the world’s first all-in-one read-along. No wi-fi or device is required. Switch it on and listen to the story read out loud. 

Listening to books read aloud helps develop the following early literacy skills

• Teaches children how to interact with books and that books convey language and ideas

• Helps develop expressive language

• Increases print awareness by making the connection between words and sounds and what is written on the page

• Expands vocabulary by introducing new words and concepts

How They Work

1. Turn on the reader and listen through the attached speaker or plug in headphones*

2. Push the play button to begin and turn the page when you hear the “turn page” signal

3. Adjust the volume using the plus and minus keys and skip through the book using the arrow keys

4. Each book checks out fully charged with over 100 plays. If it needs recharging, use a standard micro USB charger

*Children’s headphones are available on a first-come, first-served basis if needed

Borrow and Return

1. Vox books are available at every library location in English and Spanish

2. Vox books check out for 21 days

3. Vox books can be placed on hold, renewed and returned like any of our material. You can even put them in the book drop.
