Celebrate Pride Month and the LGBTQIA+ community with SPL at Parking Lot Pride! There will be informational tables, local resources, including the LGBT Life Center and PFLAG, grab-and-go activity kits, open mics to share your stories, and food trucks. Parking Lot Pride welcomes all ages.

Suffolk Learns: LGBTQIA+ History in Hampton Roads

This Pride Month, we're happy to be speaking with Cathleen Rhodes, Senior Lecturer of Women’s Studies at Old Dominion University and facilitator of the Tidewater Queer History project. As an activist scholar, Professor Rhodes offers courses which examine the many ways technology has shaped women's lives and how women have shaped technology; short stories, novels, poetry, graphic novels, comics, and creative nonfiction by and about LGBTQ people; and the evolution of LGBTQ identities and examine how LGBTQ or same sex desiring people were participants in and affected by such events as the Holocaust, the Stonewall Riots, gay liberation, and the AIDS crisis. Suffolk Belongs: Teen Safe Space

Have you always wanted to be an ambassador for equality and empowerment in your community? Suffolk Belongs is a safe space for teens, by teens! Hangout and meet other teens in a safe environment and make your impact by planning and promoting future Suffolk Belongs events.
